Ethiopia has handed Egypt for the first time studies on the Renaissance Dam, Egypt's Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazy has said.
In statements on Monday, Moghazy said that the studies were related to the dam design and the safety systems.
Ethiopian Minister of Irrigation Alamayo Nugnu has promised to hand over the remaining studies during the coming meeting of the tripartite committee, slated for October 20-21 in Cairo, he said.
Moghazy invited his Sudanese and Ethiopian counterparts to partake in the coming meeting of the committee, said a statement by Irrigation Ministry.
Earlier in the day, the committee, grouping 12 experts, wrapped up its meetings in Addis Ababa and will complete discussions on the controversial dam during the coming meetings in Cairo.
