Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi on Saturday highly appreciated the role played by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in achieving stability and healing rifts in the Arab region.
During a meeting with a visiting Saudi business delegation, Al-Sisi said the Saudi King's regional role reflects his keenness to serve the interest of both Arab and Muslim worlds, along with his praiseworthy attitude towards Egypt and its people, Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Yusuf said following the meeting.
Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdulrahman Al-Zamel and Saudi Ambassador in Egypt Ahmad Al-Qattan were present in the meeting.
The Egyptian president, comparatively, reiterated his country's interest in, and relentless support, to the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people, the spokesman added.
He added that he looked forward to promoting and increasing Saudi investments in Egypt, boasting that Cairo was taking measures in order to improve its investment atmosphere and draw more Arab and international investments.
Al-Sisi believed that a better investment atmosphere is contingent upon internal stability which can be achieved only through fighting terrorism and misconceptions that harm the religion of Islam, the spokesman said.
For his part, the Saudi ambassador in Cairo thanked the Egyptian president for attaching much significance to Saudi investments in Egypt, saying that Saudi investors plan to invest two billion Egyptian pounds in Egypt.
There are nearly 3,200 Saudi companies operating in Egypt with total investments of USD 22 billion, he pointed out.
Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz had announced that the recent Riyadh Agreement was a comprehensive framework for unity, harmony and renouncing dispute in the face of the challenges facing the Arab and Islamic nations.
He had considered the agreement as the start of a new page for joint work not only for the benefit of the peoples of GCC member states, but for the benefit of the peoples of the Arab and Islamic nations.
The Saudi king had also appealed to the people and leadership of Egypt to help in the success of this step in the march of Arab solidarity and joint Arab action.
The Egyptian government had reacted immediately by welcoming the Saudi statement as "a big stride towards concord and solidarity among the Arab nation".
It had also commended the Saudi statement as a comprehensive framework for restoring unity and solidarity among the Arab countries in the face of the mounting challenges.
