Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi said here on Wednesday his country will undoubtedly keep on backing the Palestinian people, regarding this as a national and moral responsibility.
In a televised speech to mark the anniversary of Egypt's July 23rd Revolution, Al-Sisi said Egypt is keen on taking positive moves to halt Palestinian bloodshed and to put an end to the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip.
He reminded that his country has offered great sacrifices for the Palestinian people since the outbreak of the Palestinian issue, and has even shouldered many stupendous economic burdens for supporting the issue.
Al-Sisi noted that Egypt uses the opportunity of all regional and international gatherings and events in order to reaffirm the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
On Egypt's initiative for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Egyptian president said it did not include any conditions from anybody and it mainly aimed to ease out tensions, stop fighting and open the Rafah crossing.
