Egypt has decided to open the Rafah crossing on its side to receive Palestinians injured in the Israeli offensive.
The Egyptian authorities agreed Saturday to open the terminal exceptionally to also allow food and medical aid offered from Egypt and a number of other Arab countries into the Gaza Strip.
An official source at the crossing said a number of ambulances are stationed there to ferry the injured to hospital.
Hospitals in North Sinai, especially the Arish Hospital and Rafah Central Hospital, are on high alert, as well as the ambulance department, said governor Sayyed Harhour.
Eleven Palestinians had been admitted to North Sinai hospitals on Thursday, said Health Secretary Khaled el-Weshahy.
