Egypt's Mufti Dr. Shawqi Allam has voiced concern about terrorism, condemning actions by the Daesh group, which he insisted has nothing to do with the true teachings of Islam.
It is a "demonic plant" Allam said as he described the terrorist group.
Al-Azhar has also condemned actions carried out by Daesh, Allam said in statements to MENA correspondent in Beirut, where he attended the inauguration of Lebanon's new Mufti Sheikh Abdel-Latif Durian.
Al-Azhar is working to refute ideologies that shake stability and security, Allam said.
Egypt has also restored its role in the region and is exerting utmost efforts to maintain stability, he added.
