Egypt lobbying for non-permanent UNSC seat

Egypt's foreign ministry is pressing ahead with exerting more efforts to garner the support of countries around the globe behind its bid for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council (UNSC).
Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Atti said many countries have said they would support Egypt's bid given that "its regional and international influence".
Egypt seeks to attain membership in the round to start in January 2016.
The council members are elected by the UN 193-member general assembly. The elections are due in October 2015.
