Egypt is the land of peace, said Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab.
Citing the most memorable quote of late Pope Shenouda III, Mahlab added that "Egypt is not the homeland we live in – it's the homeland that lives within all of us."
During the opening of the Hanging Church in Old Cairo after renovation, Mahlab said that the project cost about 101 million pounds, adding that it is a simple thing one could offer to the homeland.
Mahlab and Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria watched a documentary film about the renovation phases of the Hanging Church.
The church was dubbed the "Hanging Church" because of its location on a gatehouse of the Babylon Fortress, a Roman fortress built in Coptic Cairo.
