Egypt considers rejoining the Nile Basin Initiative from which it withdrew four years ago in protest against Entebbe agreement among most of the Nile Basin countries.
A source at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation told MENA that rejoining the initiative came upon an invitation from Sudan which also withdrew from the initiative.
The source said a committee of experts would be formed to assess the situation and determine the positive and negative sides of Egypt's return to the initiative.
Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hossam Moghazi had said he discussed the issue in details with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir during his recent visit to Cairo.
