Ras Al Khaimah - Arabstoday

Two pedestrians were killed after a motorist, allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, ran over them. Police later arrested the 44-year-old Asian driver who had fled from the scene. Two other pedestrians suffered injuries, one of them seriously. The victims were aged between 28 and 38. Captain Mohammad Salem Bu Ruqaiba, head of the Traffic department in Al Digdaga police station said the incident took place on Thursday night. The police control room received the report of an accident in Al Galeila industrial area in which two people were killed on the spot, Captain Bu Ruqaiba said. Investigations revealed that the car which hit the Asian group was loaded with oil and police found oil spill marks on the ground. Police traced the oil spill to reach the suspect's car. The driver who was drunk was sitting in the car, Captain Bu Ruqaiba said. The driver later confessed to the crime
