The National Population Projections Committee and The Technical Committee Thursday discussed a Draft Report of the Jordanians Population Projections according to the Governorates of the Kingdom that were prepared by technical experts recently. The meeting, held in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund, and chaired by the Director General of the Department of Statistics, Qasim Al-Zubi, was convened at the Higher Population Council (HPC) and reviewed a brief of the draft report.
The HPC explained that the report provides vital information regarding the Governorates Population Projections for the years ( 2012-2050).
The Council indicated that the report will be useful in the integration of the population dimension with regards to developing national policies, strategies and action plans; due to the importance that accurate data plays in achieving development; and in developing indicators and assumptions that help in future planning.
The draft report includes four chapters; the first is on population projections for Jordanians at the national level for the years (2012-2050).
The second on population projections for Jordanians according to the Governorates, which were prepared based on the three scenarios used at the national level, while the third chapter covers projections of the Jordanian Governorates labor force for years (2012-2050 ), which have been developed using statistical techniques adopted by the United Nations.
The fourth chapter includes data for Non- Jordanians residing in Jordan and their estimated numbers, nationality and future expectations based on certain assumptions of refugees remaining in the Kingdom vs. leaving or ratios of the refugees unwilling to return to their home land.
