Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi, and Chairman of the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 organising Committee, accompanied by Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director-General of the department, have visited the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, to check on the ongoing preparations for the hosting of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, taking place from 15th to 18th October.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the 44th edition of the international competition is organised by Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, ACTVET, and aims to support young people in choosing the right career path for their future by providing them with the opportunity to explore the vocational skills they are passionate about, discover their unique abilities, and receive advice from experts in the technical and professional fields.

Participants will be able to join 51 skill competitions in six categories, including Robotics and Aircraft Maintenance, Landscaping, Jewellery Making, and other skills.

The emirate is expecting to welcome over 100,000 visitors from around the UAE and the world for this international competition as it comes to the Middle East for the first time, presenting the world’s largest professional skills competition.

The World Skills Organisation was founded in 1950 for skills excellence and development, through supporting education and training in the vocational, technical and service sectors across more than 75 countries and regions.
