Niger's Minister Massaoudou Hassoumi
Algiers - APS

Algeria is "competently and resolutely" palying its role in the settlement of the crisis in Sahel, said Monday in Algiers Niger's Minister of Interior, Public Security, Decentralization, Customary and Religious Affairs Massaoudou Hassoumi.
"Issues relating to terrorism and other crimes in the Sahel region are causes for concern to Algeria, which is a leading country in the region. Algeria is competently and resolutely playing its role "in the resolution of conflicts) in the region," Hassoumi told the press on the margin of his visit to the training and intervention unit of the Civil Protection.
He also underlined that his country supports Algeria's approach for the management of all conflicts in the region, particularly in Mali and Libya, and all what is related to the fight against terrorism and the organized crime, adding that "the two neighbouring countries are facing the same threats."
Hasoumi said that his two-day visit to Algeria was fruitful and will certainly contribute to the strengthening of relations, which are already excellent, between Algeria and Niger."
He added that the visit allowed him to examine with senior Algerian officials cooperation, particularly in the field of security.
He also hailed the willingness and readiness of Algerian authorities for the repatriation of the displaced Nigeriens from Algeria to their country of origin at the request of the Government of Niger, adding that these persons are exploited by "criminal organizations, which Niger is relentlessly fighting."
