Riyadh - KUNA

The second World Congress for Counter-Terrorism entitled "Intellectual Reviews, and Practical Solutions" kicked off Tuesday in the city of Medina. Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that the first day of the conference witnessed three working sessions and papers on terrorism and ways to confront it, with participations of local and foreign scholars. The first session, which was headed by the Imam of the Holy Mosque in Makkah Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, highlighted papers on differences between terrorism and Jihad, including topics on defamations to rulers. The second session tackled reviews and a number of programs established to confront terrorism, and ways to improve past experiences on dealing with terrorism issues. The third session covered ways to improve intellectual understanding to intellectuals. The conference which concludes its work tomorrow has also managed to bring 98 research papers presented by 29 female and male scholars. The scholars come from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain, Morocco, and Malaysia. The conference aims at establishing a practical strategy in dealing with terrorism culture, through knowing its strong and weak points, and ways to minimize its dangers
