The General Union of Copts for Home renewed its condemnation of the killing and forcing out of Iraqi Christians as well as the demolishing of churches in parts of Iraq by forces of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
The union slammed the "Arab silence" towards these crimes, calling on the Arab League (AL) to interfere to protect the Iraqi Christians and preserve their property and churches.
In a statement on Monday, the union underlined the importance of preserving Iraq's Islamic and Christian human heritage.
It also urged the United Nations (UN) to offer protection to Iraqi Christians and called on the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) to preserve the human heritage there, especially after ISIL's demolition of 30 churches in Mosul.
