Dr Mohammad al-Hadid
Amman - KUNA

President of the Jordan National Red Crescent Society Dr. Mohammad Al-Hadid, commenting on the UN proclamation of His Highness the Amir (of Kuwait) Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as a "humanitarian leader," said the UN gesture is an expression of gratitude to a leader "whose heart throbs with tenderness toward those in need for help." "His Highness deserves such a title, for he is in the lead among those who aid stricken peoples regardless of religious and political affiliations," said Dr. Al-Hadid, in a statement to KUNA.
Kuwait, due to His Highness the Amir's guidelines, plays the most prominent role in relieving afflicted peoples in various corners of the world "and this honoring is in appreciation for the pioneering role of the State of Kuwait under leadership of His Highness the Amir for aiding the stricken peoples," he said.
The State of Kuwait has offered humanitarian aid to Palestine, Syria, Indonesia, Somalia, Haiti and many other countries. The list of the countries that have received assistance from Kuwait includes the United States, Jordan, Libya, Yemen, Thailand, the Philippines, he said, noting that the Kuwaiti relief operations have covered more than 60 countries worldwide.
Dr. Al-Hadid noted His Highness the Amir's particular attention to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and his guidelines to dispatch relief supplies to nations in crises, quickly.
Some of Kuwait's eventful activities recently was its hosting of the First and Second International Humanitarian Pledging Conferences for Syria, in 2013 and 2014.
Elaborating, Dr. Al-Hadid said His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad has promoted and boosted tolerance, security and stability in his country, thus making "Kuwait an oasis in the region.
"His Highness has devoted his life for service of the people of Kuwait and aiding the others in diffcult circumstances for sake of revealing Kuwait's civic image." The UN has called Kuwait "an international humanitarian center" and described His Highness the Amir as "a humanitarian leader."
