Tunisian President Mohamed Moncef el-Marzouki
Tunis - APS

The ministers of Foreign Affairs of Libya's neighbouring countries called on Monday, at the end of their meeting in Hammamet, Tunisia, for the respect of the territorial integrity and the sovereignty of Libya and for a halt to the military operations.
Libya's neighbouring countries must attend all the meetings and conferences on this country because they are directly concerned by its stability, said the statement issued at the end of the ministerial meeting.
The statement also called for the support of Arab-African initiatives to resolve the Libyan crisis and all the efforts aiming at "ensuring the best conditions for the launch of a national dialogue."
The ministerial meeting approved the setting-up of a security committee chaired by Algeria in charge of security and military issues, including border control, and the "development of a strategy for weapons collection in order to settle this issue, which constitutes a threat to the security and stability in Libya and neighbouring countries."
It also approved the creation of a political committee chaired by Egypt in charge of establishing contacts between the Libyan political class and the components of the civil society.
The meeting has underlined the need for Libya's neighbouring countries to address the issue of the hotbeds of terrorism in Libya, which is a cause of worry for Libya and its neighbouring countries.
It also called on the religious authorities to "assume their responsibilities" in the dissemination of a moderate religious thoughts.
The final statement emphasized the role of the ministerial council of Libya's neighbouring countries as a "framework that will allow these countries to examine the challenges resulting from the security situation in Libya.
