Baghdad - KUNA

Two separate car bombings rocked Kirkuk city, north Iraq, on Sunday, wounding at least 55 people, mainly civilians. The first bombing, apparently a suicide attack, targeted a government building and the house of Christian MP Emad Johanna in Rahimawa district, to the north of the city, a local security officer told KUNA. The attack wounded 47 people including three of Johanna's sons besides extensive damage to the nearby buildings and cars; four of the victims are in critical condition, according to the source. The second, carried out by a booby-tapped car this afternoon, targeted the convoy of police chief of Kirkuk Governorate Maj.-Gen. Jamal Taher at the Arafa intersection, north the city. Five people, including two bodyguards were, injured in the attack, Maj. -Gen. Taher told reporters. The security forces rushed to the site, cordoned it off and started manhunt for the perpetrators while ambulances carried the five wounded people to a nearby hospital.
