General Director of Capital Governorate Police, Brigadier Khalid Mohammed Al Thawadi highlighted on Saturday that the directives of His Excellency Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa is considered as the root for growth and development, as his support has contributed in reducing crime rates in the district as a new achievement to the Interior Ministry’s milestones.
He highlighted that the department has dealt with 10,000 cases this year, in which its duties includes security protection through police patrols in vital areas. He said that most cases in Manama are related to physical attacks, the use of vehicles without permission from their owners, not paying rents, pounce cheques, taking lost money, thefts and violation to the residency regulations and runaway from the sponsors. The cases are dealt with through fast response and high-tech investigation. He highlighted the role of the community police in interacting with the public and fighting crimes through monitoring behaviors that could lead to crimes.
The General Director highlighted also the importance for the public to have basic legal information to avoid breaking the law or falling victims to fraudsters for their poor knowledge of laws. He said that the department is dedicated to protect youth through awareness lectures at schools in cooperation with the Education Ministry and various activities at cultural clubs and centers in Manama.
