Bahrini NSA inspector-general inspects complaints

The Inspector-General at the National Security Agency Mohammed Rashid Al-Rumaihi has affirmed keenness to activate the duties of his Office and ensure legal protection for all citizens and expatriates so as to make it a role-model in protecting human rights and activating the international conventions and agreements, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of his inspection visit to the headquarters of the Complaints Department, located in the Diplomatic Area (Office No. 302, the third floor of the Park Plaza), he said that the visit was in line with his constant follow up of the work of the unit for the sake of removing obstacles, if any.Al-Rumaihi revealed that the organizational and executive structures of the Office of the Inspector-General at the National Security Agency have been completed following the provision of the logistic and human support, according to the best professional standards, noting that the establishment of the Office is a unique experience across the GCC region that reflects strong commitment to respecting and protecting human rights.He added that the visit was in accordance with the wise leadership’s directives and resolve to protect human rights and promote the principles of justice and respect of the rule of the law, the pillars of HM the King’s Reform Project.It also confirms the kingdom’s commitment to implementing the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), he said, expressing constant keenness to ensure that no one will be wronged and that everyone will get due rights.On the goals of the Office and ways of achieving its goals, Al-Rumaihi said that all bodies and concerned sides are currently making efforts to upgrade its performance, safeguard its full independence, ensure its impartiality, fairness, gain the confidence of the complainants and take all procedures to ensure that all data, information and documents related to it are left confidential.Concerning ways of receiving the inquiries and complaints of the citizens and residents, Al-Rumaihi affirmed that all means of communication are made available for complainants to lodge complaints or seek information through personal presence at the Office’s premises at the Park Plaza building in the Diplomatic Area, visiting its website, to be inaugurated soon, email it at contact@ignsa.gov.bh, visit its Facebook account (Office of Inspector General of the National Security Agency) or twitter account (@IG_NSA_BAHRAIN), send letters to POB No. 2666 or through directly calling 66644111/ 17513301 or fax it on 17162731.Regarding the future plans, the Inspector-General said that the Office was looking forward to becoming a member of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), a prestigious international establishment, which, he noted, would enable the Office to avail of IOI’s expertise through sending its affiliates to attend training and research sessions.
