Labour Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Vocational Training Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan said that Bahrain has made giant strides in establishing a developed infrastructure of training and human resources development.
He explained that the kingdom had enacted a training law and created mechanisms to monitor the performance of educational and training establishments, under the supervision and follow-up of the High Committee for the Development of Education and Training, chaired by Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, noting that the National Authority for Qualifications and Quality Assurance of Education and Training (QQA) periodically reviews the performance of the specialised training institutes and centres.
He added that the Labour Ministry would create new technical and vocational training tracks, highlighting the importance of partnership with the relevant civil society associations in order to develop training centres and institutes so that their output meets the present and future needs of the labour market.
He stressed that the existence of a highly qualified and trained national workforce would attract more investments to the kingdom and spur the economy, praising the role played by the Bahrain Society for the Owners of the Private Training Institutes (BSOPTI)
This came as met a delegation of BSOPTI’s Board of Directors, led by Dr. Ahmed Al Obaidali.
The meeting focused on ways to upgrade private training establishments in order to consolidate the kingdom’s status a regional centre for specialised vocational training.
Al-Obaidli praised the crucial role played by the Labour Ministry and the Supreme Council for Vocational Training in developing training and employment programmes, promoting the training culture among the private sector institutions and launching initiatives and projects to develop the national workforce, providing incentives for trainees, which, he said, supplied the labour market with qualified competencies.
