Jameel bin Mohammed
Manama - BNA

Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan issued a ministerial edict stipulating the formation of the Equal Opportunities Unit "EOU" in the Ministry of Labour in compliance with the Civil Service Bureau (CSB)'s Instruction No.: 4/2014.
The EOU will be presided over by Labour Ministry's Undersecretary Sabah Salem Al-Dosary.
Al-Dosary said the ministerial edict comes in compliance with HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's directives for activation of the National Model for Inclusion of Women's Needs regarding equal opportunities, the directives of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister for taking the necessary actions in implementation of the Government's Action Plan 2011-2014; and, the directives of the Supreme Council for Women "SCW" for setting up possible mechanism for activation of initiatives pertaining to the inclusion of women's needs in all work aspects.
Al-Dosary pointed out that the ministerial edict has defined the jurisdiction and duties of the committee's business by defining the controls, criteria and relevant plans for application of the principles of equal opportunity aimed to include the needs of Bahraini women in the frame of equal opportunity in all work aspects in the Ministry in coordination with the SCW, the CSB's Instruction No.: 4/2014, especially clause 3 thereof.
Clause 6 of the ministerial edict stipulates the cancellation of Edict No.: 85/2011 for the formation of equal opportunity units. The Ministry of Labour was one of the first ministries which took the initiative of forming its own equal opportunity unit in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This unit has effectively contributed in boosting the level of awareness about the principle of equal opportunity and women's empowerment.
