Bahrain court postpones policemen murder trial

Bahrain's Cassation Court on Monday postponed to September 26 the trial of two people sentenced to death by a lower court and the Court of Appeals for their alleged role in the killing of two policemen. The National Safety Court of First Instance has sentenced four defendants to death and three to life in prison for their alleged role in the March killing of Kashif Ahmad Mansour, 20, and Mohammad Farooq Abdul Samad. However, the sentences were appealed and the National Safety Court of Appeals upheld the death penalty against two people, but commuted two other death sentences to life in prison. The ruling by the Cassation Court, which under Bahrain's legal system reviews all decisions by the Court of Appeals, will be final and only the king has the right to commute it. The Cassation Court usually takes its summer recess in mid-July. From / Gulf News
