Minister of State for Women's Affairs, Jean Ogassapian, said in an interview with the Voice of Lebanon 100.3-100.5 radio station "that things are back to square one on the subject of the election law," expressing regret "because all the experiments have confirmed that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to reach a law formula that satisfies all parties."
"The joint committees have discussed 17 laws, and an understanding was made then over 5 suggestions. Later on, the quadripartite meetings began and it was agreed on the adoption of a mixed law that combines the proposals of Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri, the Lebanese Forces, the Future and the Progressive Socialist party. It is clear that this proposal is facing difficulties at present," Ogassapian noted.
"We are facing a dead end as president Aoun insist that there is no return to the 60s law," he concluded.
