Al-Azhar Undersecretary Abbas Shoman met on Wednesday with a visiting Iraqi delegation.
The meeting touched on Al-Azhar's efforts to uncover the false claims of terrorists about Islam and Al-Azhar's planned conference on combating terrorism.
"Such terrorist groups are Western-made," Shoman told the delegation.
He called on the Iraqi people to unite and not to follow calls of division.
The delegation, for its part, hailed Al-Azhar's role in combating extremism, expressing willingness to boost bilateral cooperation with the top Islamic institution.
