
The Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity has announced completion of arrangements for holding the national coordinative meeting for the Nile Basin Initiative, which scheduled to be held on next Tuesday at the Great Holiday Villa.
The Chairman of the Technical Authority for Water Resources at the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity Dr. Seif-Eddin Hamad Abdallah said in statement, SUNA has received a copy of which, the initiative of Nile Basin was a regional partnership among the Nile basin states led by the Ministers of Water Resources at those states aiming at realization of sustainable socio-economic development through equitable utilization of, and benefit from joint water resources.
Dr. Abdallah added that the initiative, since its inception in 1999, has made great joint steps and insights through the implementation of the strategic action programme nationally and regionally, in addition to build the ability for cooperation and confidence to work together, pointing out that among the activities of the national offices of the Nile Basin Initiative is to hold coordinative annual meetings to consolidate awareness on the benefits of cooperation among the Nile basin countries, the initiative and its role in water resources management and development at the level of the basin as a whole and at national levels.
