
Egypt's Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab pointed out that disasters undermine investments, concluding that disasters hinder on the way of achieving sustainable development and eliminating poverty.
He said that the Egyptian government has adopted a patch of procedures to support the efforts aiming to enhance the national system that strives to limit disasters' risk.
He added that the government is exhorting efforts as a priority to enhance capabilities of all national institutions concerned with planning and implementing activities aiming to reduce disasters' risk.
This came during Mahlab's speech that was delivered by Minister of Rural Development Laila Iskandar on behalf of Mahlab in the opening session of the second Arab Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction taking place in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
