The Council of Arab International Relations (CARINTER) Chairman Mohammad Al-Saqer issued a statement, Monday, demanding immediate international action to stop the bloody Israeli assault on Gaza and the Netanyahu policies of collective punishment.
The statement noted the onslaught on Gaza comes after the Israelis had already put a stick in the wheel and aborted peace efforts and negotiations and ignored all that had been agreed to at the start of the peace process over 20 years ago. CARINTER urged sponsors of the peace agreements between the Palestinians and the Israelis to act swiftly and strongly to stop the assault.
The non-profit also urged the international community and international organizations to condemn the Israeli aggression and issue resolutions to compel Tel Aviv to honor its obligations and to honor Palestinians' rights, most importantly their right to establish an independent viable state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital and the right of return.
Al-Saqer stressed it is vital to support Arab action through all political and diplomatic venues accessible to direct effort to such end.
He also made a plea to civil society bodies and official aid agencies to launch campaigns to aid Gazans and alleviate their suffering due to the brutal Israeli attacks, and also demanded all crimes against humanity be documented so that those responsible are held accountable according to relevant international laws and agreements.
The Council of Arab International Relations (CARINTER) is an independent non-governmental Arab and international non-profit aimed at enabling well-informed and objective Arab decision making on issues related to Arab and international relations. It also aims to cooperate with the respective governments and official bodies to enable such sound decision making and to support stronger interaction and cooperation with peer and other institutions on a global scale.
Council members include prominent Arab figures in politics, economy, sciences and other fields, some of whom are current or former presidents, prime ministers, and ministers, as well as MPs and heads of weighty Arab institutions.
CARINTER is an entity under the bigger umbrella of the Council of Gulf International Relations (COGIR).
Established and based in London since 2005, COGIR continued to engage in research, advocacy, sensitization and direct action programs for the promotion of more understanding between Gulf people and other nations. COGIR works to serve the needs of Human rights, peace, democracy and the needs of the civil society in Arabian Gulf. COGIR promotes more understanding between Arabian Gulf people and West.
COGIR is a regional network of non-government organizations (NGOs), associations, unions of activists, and individual advocates in Arabian Gulf and Europe who are committed to protect and promote human rights, religions tolerance, peace, and dialogue.
