Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Araby called here on Thursday for a cessation of military operations and hostilities in Syria on the occasion of the Eid Al-Ahda which falls on Saturday.
Al-Araby urged in a statement all warring parties in Syria to carry out a truce in order to stop bloodshed during the Muslim festival.
"This truce will pave the way for relief organizations to do their duties and provide urgent humanitarian aid to violence-hit areas in Syria," he added.
The chief of the Arab League stressed that concerted efforts need to be exerted to urge the Syrian government and all armed groups to abide by this "humanitarian truce".
