Cairo - Arab Today

A high-profile Arab League (AL) delegation led by Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Mohamed Lemine Ould Guig will head for Djibouti on Saturday to participate in monitoring the presidential elections slated for April 8.

Former Mauritanian Prime Minister Mohamed Lemine, who also acts as head of the AL financial and administrative sector, asserted the mission will review the latest preparations and logistic arrangements before starting its work.

In a press conference, Lemine said the AL is keen on supporting the democracy and reform path in Djibouti.

The AL mission will meet with parties concerned with organizing the presidential polls and presidential nominees as well as representatives of the non-government organizations, he added.

The AL delegation members will spread across five states of the country along with the capital, he asserted.

The AL mission will work on evaluating various aspects of the elections neutrality and impartiality, he asserted.

ِAlso, the AL mission members will observe the candidates' electioneering, voting process, vote count and make sure the whole process is compatible with the laws and regulation applied in Djibouti and the international standards as well, he underlined.
