Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Arabi strongly condemned the deadly bomb attack on a checkpoint of the Lebanese Internal Security Force (ISF) on the Beirut-Damascus highway earlier Friday.
The League backs the efforts of the Lebanese government to combat terrorism and ward off the security hazards facing the country, Al-Arabi said in a statement.
He urged the international community to stand by Lebanon and offer assistance to the Lebanese army to help them shoulder their national responsibility at this delicate stage.
He also congratulated chief of the ISF Maj.-Gen. Abbas Ibrahim on his survival from the attack on his convoy which killed two persons and wounded 17 others in the eastern mountainous region of Dahr Al-Baidar
