Customs officials from Arab states, including the UAE, have drafted a unified customs law, it was announced at the conclusion of a meeting of a specialised commission at the League of Arab States.
The 181-article pan-Arab draft law comes with an explanatory supplement, said Meshal Al Otaibi, who oversees the Arab Customs Union at the pan-Arab organisation, following the 29th meeting of the commission.
Arab states will review the document and send their feedback to the commission before the draft is discussed at a meeting of the League's Economic and Social Council in February next year, he noted.
Ali Rashid Al Dhanhahi, Acting Director of Legal Affairs at the Federal Customs Authority (FCA), and Jassim Al Nuaimi, a researcher in legal affairs at the FC, represented the UAE at the three-day meeting.
