Suleiman Abu Ghaith, the former spokesman of Al-Qaeda, was sentenced to life in prison on terrorism-related charges on Tuesday.
Abu Ghaith, who is also Osama Bin Laden's son-in-law, was found guilty following his conviction on conspiracy to kill Americans and aiding Al-Qaeda.
After reciting verses from Holy Quran, the US District Judge Lewis Kaplan announced the verdict.
In March, a Manhattan federal Jury found him guilty of conspiracy to kill Americans and aiding Al-Qaeda.
Abu Ghaith was captured in Jordan and immediately brought back to the US.
American special forces killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden during a raid on his house in Pakistan in May, 2011.
The US accuses Al-Qaeda of carrying out the September 11, 2001 attacks which killed thousands of people.
