Iraqi outgoing Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki announced Thursday he was conceding his position and supported Prime Minister-designate Haidar Al-Abadi.
Al-Maliki has supported Al-Abadi's designation to form the next government, Ali Al-Mosawi, the outgoing prime minister's spokesman, told KUNA.
Meanwhile, a source in the State of Law party said Al-Maliki had relinquished his bids to challenge Al-Abadi's designation, and that he and Al-Abadi would announce this move in public later tonight.
