National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim on Monday described a joint meeting held between lawmakers and government representatives as positive and fruitful.
The talks were held at the National Assembly HQ a day earlier and were attended by 39 lawmakers and seven ministers, Al-Ghanim told reporters.
The First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah had briefed the lawmakers on the situation outside of the country, while the Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Acting Ministry of Awqaf Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah spoke about internal affairs, he added.
The briefings were followed by others by each of the ministers according to their own sectors.
Some 20 days have passed out of a month-long time limit since the State Audit Bureau invited people to come forward bearing evidence that could prove allegations of corruption in the judiciary.
"There are only 10 days left, and we will have something else to say if nobody, carrying documents, or money transfers, comes forward," he said.
He lashed out at calls made by ex-lawmakers of the former annulled parliament to withdraw the validity of the current parliament.
"Who are they to call for an annulment? The parliament came according to free and fair elections that represent the Kuwaiti people. These elections witnessed a 52pct turnout out of 58pct - this means that 90pct of the Kuwaiti people are represented at this parliament.
"Now, we are the ones who will protect the constitution and any annulment is in the hands of His Highness the Amir." Separately, speaking in his capacity as Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union chief, he said that an urgent meeting on Gaza would be held by the parliaments with the Arab League in Cairo on Thursday.
