The Algerian initiative launched by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to bring the international community to reach an urgent end to Israeli aggression is increasingly supported by several states and regional groups.
It all began with the talks that the Head of the State had with his counterparts of Egypt and Qatar, last Wednesday, and which allowed them to consider ways and means for a "more intense" joint Arab action in order to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
As a first step, President Bouteflika decided to grant an emergency aid worth $25 million to Palestine, especially the people of Gaza.
On the diplomatic front, Algeria, the first country to have condemned the Israeli aggression, even before the Arab countries and other countries, convened an urgent session of the UN General Assembly to examine the "serious" situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza.
Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Algeria to the UN Sabri Boukadoum, told Saturday to APS that the Algerian initiative, endorsed by the Arab Group and other regional groups as well as very many states, is relayed by all the Algerian diplomatic apparatus worldwide.
It is in this context, an Algerian delegation will participate Monday in Tehran, at the Emergency meeting of the Non-Aligned Committee to explain to the committee the initiative to convene a session of the UN General Assembly on the situation in Gaza.
Algeria will set out to the 13 members of the Committee, the initiative of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to convene in the coming days, an emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly devoted to Gaza.
It will share the diplomatic efforts already underway in New York (the UN), in coordination with the Palestinian delegation and other regional groups to "materialize the Algerian initiative aiming at halting the hostilities, immediately taking in charge the the serious humanitarian crisis resulting from the Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza, and resuming peace negotiations.”
