Algerian army destroys 3616 mines from colonial era during September

A total of 3,616 mines dating back to the colonial era have been discovered and destroyed during the month of September by the members of the People's National Army (ANP) throughout the eastern and western borders of the country, official sources said Sunday.
At the 2nd Military Region, 132 anti-personnel mines, 479 anti-group mines and four flare ones were discovered and destroyed.
At the 5th Military Region, 2,939 anti-personnel mines, 42 anti-group mines and 20 flare mines were discovered and destroyed, bringing the grand total of mines found and destroyed on September 30, 2014 to 747 852 mines,i.e. 630,039 antipersonnel mines, 113,206 anti-group mines and 4,607 flare mines, the source added.
