Algeria welcomes the release of the two Tunisian diplomats abducted in Libya, congratulating the Libyan and Tunisian authorities for their “solidarity” work, said Wednesday Spokesman of Foreign Affairs Ministry Abdelaziz Benali Cherif.
“We are delighted about the return to their families in the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan of the Tunisian diplomat Laâroussi Gantassi and his colleague Mohamed Ben Cheikh, abducted in Tripoli (Libya) three months ago,” said Benali Cherif in a statement to APS.
“Algeria, which strongly condemned the act of abduction, congratulates the Libyan and Tunisian brothers who worked together to reach this happy result without submitting to the kidnappers’ conditions,” he added.
“We hope that Libya’s recent legislative elections, which were conducted in an atmosphere of calm and serenity, can engage the necessary dynamic to put the country on the path of reconciliation and nation-building”, concluded Benali Cherif.
