Algeria urges Libyan antagonists to make prevail dialogue, consensus

Algeria reiterated Monday in Cairo, through its Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, its call to Libyan antagonists to make dialogue and consensus prevail and keep off "any devastating conflict that might undermine the foundations of the state and Libyan society's unity and sovereignty."
"Our Libyan brothers, especially the national civil forces, are going through a real ordeal as they have to face the dangerous challenges threatening their country," Lamamra said in an address at the opening session of the fourth ministerial meeting of Libya's neighbouring countries.
"The antagonists have no choice but to adopt the way of dialogue and consensus, while keeping away from the devastating confrontation and conflict that might, if they go on with the same scale, undermine the foundations of the state as well as Libyan society's unity and sovereignty."
The Foreign Minister deemed it important to "extinguish the fire which is not only burning hydrocarbon tanks but might reach people's hearts and souls the various parts of Libya as well."
"Algeria, aware of the serious situation our Libyan brother people are living," had already warned of the political disagreements and armed conflicts shaking the country," he underlined.
Lamamra stressed that Algeria "has always called Libyan parties and forces to put an end to all forms of violence and to settle their misunderstanding through dialogue and consensus, by the way of the elected Parliament."
He urged them to "take the necessary steps for a national reconciliation, which is imperative today, and to create credible and effective institutions to preserve  Libya's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, rejecting any interference in their internal affairs."
Algeria deemed it "important to consolidate consultation and boost coordination among the neighbouring countries, a move that requires a combination of efforts to help the Libyan state and its national forces."
Lamamra called the antagonists to "consider Libyan people's higher interests as the top priority in this crucial period of their history."
