
Algeria and Egypt on Thursday in Cairo stressed their "complete convergence of views" on the need to preserve Libya’s territorial unity and coordinate their efforts in this regard.
While hosting a news conference following the 7th Algerian-Egyptian High Joint Commission, Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and Egyptian counterpart Ibrahim Mahleb stressed the need to "work together" to restore security in Libya and preserve its territorial unity.
In this regard, Sellal said having broached with the Egyptian officials, notably President Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi and the Premier Mahleb various issues related to the recovery of security in the region, especially in the Sahel countries and in Libya, affirming that Algeria and Egypt "share the same view" concerning the necessity of restoring stability in those countries which experience multi-dimensional crises, notably terrorism.
The Premier reminded Algeria’s vision that "there will be neither sustainable development nor economic recovery without peace and stability, adding to the need to eliminate terrorism to achieve those objectives," he added.
In this regard, Sellal underlined that Algeria built on its experience in terms of the fight against terrorism in its cooperation with the concerned states and this at all levels.
The Prime Minister, who said having handed over a message from President Bouteflika to President el-Sisi, said that Algeria aspired to it "establish a strategic area between the two countries, based on a clear vision."
For his part, the Egyptian premier underlined a consensus between Algeria and Egypt regarding the settlement of the situation in the neighboring countries, notably in Libya.
He highlighted the convergence of views on the need for preserve Libya’s territorial integrity.
On the content of the 17 agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between Algeria and Egypt, the two officials cited the facilitation measures for visa granting, the increase of flights between the two countries and the effective contribution to the company "El-Mokawloon El-Arab" (Arab contractors) in projects in Algeria in anticipation of the creation of joint ventures.
