The Grand Imam of al-Azhar mosque, Sheikh Ahmad al-Tayeb, met on Monday with Lebanon's ambassador to Egypt, Antoine Azzam.
Azzam thanked the Sheikh for his positions in support of stability and unity in Lebanon, relaying the Lebanese people's high appreciation of the Sheikh's stances.
For his part, Sheikh al-Tayeb emphasized the importance of the model represented by Lebanon, describing it a country of peaceful coexistence.
"Al-Azhar is committed to supporting Arab causes, with al-Quds at the forefront," al-Tayeb said confirming the Arab identity of al-Quds
