Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Arabi held a meeting on Monday with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri and Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khaled al-Sabah for consultations on the steps required to take a unified Arab action to stop the Israeli aggression on the Palestinians.
The meeting also discussed an initiative launched by Egypt to stop the Israeli raids on the Palestinian people.
The Egyptian initiative urges an immediate ceasefire and stopping all hostilities from both sides.
The initiative is meant to stem the Palestinian bloodshed and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories, said a statement by the Foreign Ministry earlier.
The Egyptian authorities will individually hold a series of meetings with high-level delegations from Israel and the Palestinian factions within 48 hours from the start of implementing the initiative.
