The Excellence Panel of the AIPU Executive Committee today reviewed nominations for excellence awards as well as the basis and criteria of choosing the best among them, head of the panel Kuwaiti MP Faisal Al-Shay'e told KUNA.
Al-Shay'e, also head of the Executive Committee, added that the excellence award covers four categories, parliament speaker, an MP, parliament secretary general and parliament researcher. The criteria have already been approved, yet they are so general and decided to be the subject of further discussions in the coming session the Suadn, Al-Shay'e said.
No Kuwaiti nominations have been submitted for the parliamentary excellence awards, though the country has several distinguished parliamentarians, as Kuwait is president of the current AIPU session, he stressed.
However, the Committee agreed to honor AIPU Chairman, Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim for his efforts to promote the Union and foster Arab joint action during Kuwait's presidency of AIPU.
Today's meeting of the Excellence Panel review nominations for the parliamentary awards, but the decision have been postponed to the Sudan meeting, seeking to draw up a mechanism of selection, Secretary-General of Kuwait's National Assembly Allam Al-Kandari told KUNA.
