Abu dhabi - Arab Today

A delegation from the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi and the Executive Committee Office visited the Etihad Museum, a national landmark in Dubai, to celebrate the journey of the United Arab Emirates since its foundation in 1971.

The delegation included Dr. Fahad Matar Al Neyadi, Director-General of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council, and Dr. Rawda Seed Al Saedi, Deputy Director-General of the Executive Committee Office, as well as a number of employees from both groups.

They toured the museum’s various facilities and sections including a wing dedicated to the nation’s founding fathers, studied an interactive map that highlighted the period before its foundation and viewed several pictures, films, documents and objects that detailed the chronological journey of the UAE between 1968 and 1974. They also watched a 3D film about the UAE’s history and the people who contributed to its development.

The visit then continued with a stop at the Union House, where the documents for establishing the United Arab Emirates were signed. This was followed by a visit to a wing that displayed various quotes from the founding fathers. The delegation then viewed the interactive map highlighting the country’s history prior to the union being established, before viewing a collection of postal stamps dating back to the founding of the country.

The Etihad Museum is a dynamic building with 21st century architectural features, which will inspire both Emiratis and foreign visitors through their introduction to the story of the UAE’s foundation. It aims to celebrate the dedication, commitment and patriotism of the country’s founders, as well as to encourage all individuals to continue along the same path towards developing the nation.

The museum will take visitors on a unique journey with its displays, interactive programmes and educational initiatives that offer a chronological view of the country’s history from before the founding of the union, right up to its establishment in 1971. It will also focus on the years between 1968 and 1974 and will narrate the country’s story from the perspective of its leaders. The Etihad Museum also seeks to spread knowledge about the country’s constitution, particularly issues that relate to the rights, privileges and obligations of its citizens.
