Almost 98 percent of Argin crossing has been finalized with a total investment of EGP 93 millions, Executive Director of Argin crossing project Brig. Salah Abdel Majed said on Sunday.
He added that the crossing could accommodate up to 7,500 passengers daily, as well as more than 300 trucks and buses.
Located at Egypt’s southern most border point by Lake Nasser (over 920 kilometers south of Cairo) and Sudan’s northern most border point at Wadi Halfa, the crossing includes two 454-meter-long and 18-meter-wide roads, Abdel Majed noted.
In addition to the two main roads, there is another route that has been dedicated to camels and cattle, Abdel Majed stated.
Constructed on 100,000-meter-square land, the project comprises customs unit, departure and arrival halls, as well as a 20,000-meter-square parking lot for trucks, cars and buses, the executive director further said.
