
A detachment of the People’s National Army (ANP), coming under operational sector of Bordj Badji Mokhtar, arrested Sunday nine (09) smugglers and seized two vehicles, said Monday a communiqué from National Defence Ministry.
“As part of securing borders and fight against smuggling and organized crime, an APN’s detachment, coming under the operational sector of Bordj Badji Mokhtar (6th Military Region), arrested, yesterday 16 November 2014, following a reconnaissance patrol, six (06) smugglers from Algeria and three (03) others from Mali and seized two (02) vehicles,” said the source.
In the same regard, another detachment of the people’s National Army coming under the operational sector of In Guezzam seized, on the same day, in an ambush, three (03) all-terrain vehicles and 140 litres of fuel, added the communiqué.
In another operation, a detachment of APN coming under the operational sector of Tamanrasset and in coordination with the Algerian Customs seized a quantity of 2,000 litres of fuel intended for smuggling, added the source.
