Castle of Al Karak, Jordan
Amman - Arab Today

Five people have been killed in a drive-by shooting in Jordan as gunmen opened fire in an ongoing stand-off with police, Sky News reported Sunday.

Four police officers were killed in the attack, Prime Minister Hany al Malqi confirmed.

Special forces are surrounding 10 of the outlaws, who are hiding in Karak in southern Amman.

A female Canadian tourist is among the fatalities, a source was quoted as saying.

Nine other people were wounded in the attack, the source added.

State news agency Petra said on Sunday a police patrol came under fire and that security forces are "handling the situation".
