The National Committee in Solidarity with Palestinian People in Gaza has collected seventy tonnes of medical products. "The medical stocks are stored at the warehouses of the Health Ministry pending shipment to Gaza Strip", Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) Secretary-General Dr. Mustapha Al-Sayyed said.
He pointed out that a medical consignment weighing forty tonnes would be sent to Gaza Strip as first shipment. The National Committee in Solidarity with Palestinian People in Gaza has agreed with airways companies to provide a cargo plane within 24 four houses for the consignment to be dispatched.
In a statement today, Dr. Al-Sayyed said that a correspondence was sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for official approval to send the first consignment. The committee has received a detailed list feature the medical products which are urgently needed for distressed Palestinians in Gaza, including surgical items and other basic medication.
Dr. Al-Sayyed, also Chief Executive of the National Committee in Solidarity with Palestinian People in Gaza, commended citizens and residents for contributions to the nation-wide fundraiser.
" A citizen has donated his own car while children brought their own piggy banks in contribution to the Gaza lifeline", he said. He visited a number of fundraising centres and met citizens and residents, as well as children who took part in the nation-wide campaign and donated their own savings.
He also met a Bahraini philanthropist who donated his only car to the fund-raising campaign, in support of distressed Palestinians in Gaza Strip. Dr. Al-Sayyed said that the car would be sold and proceeds would go towards supporting the Palestinians in Gaza. He announced that the Bahrain Health Centre and King of Bahrain School escaped unharmed despite the brutal Israeli shelling which wreaked havoc on Gaza Strip.
