Four Lebanese nationals were arrested on the grounds of forming a cell linked to a "terrorist" organization and acting in its favor, the General Security Directorate said Friday in a statement carried by state news agency NNA.
During their interrogation, one of the detainees admitted to supporting a "terrorist" organization and recruiting many young men to work for the benefit of the said organization, including the other three arrested men, according to the statement.
All four admitted to attempting to "spread the diffuse of the organization through the Internet and social media outlets so as to attract young people and induce them into joining the ranks of the organization." The said detainee also confessed to preparing to travel to the Syrian city of Raqqa via Turkey in order to join the fighting in the ranks of the organization.
