
Some 32 Syrian opposition fighters were killed and 26 injured on Sunday in an ambush in Daraa, southern Syria, a monitoring group said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added that the ambush was set in the area between the towns of Hara and Zamreen in west Daraa countryside. 12 are still missing.
In the governorate of Raqqa, north central Syria, after the insurgents of the Islamic State seized full control of the Tabqa Military Airport, the army's last post in the province, clashes are still raging between the militants and the regime's forces in two areas near the airport, according to the Observatory.
It noted that the jets of the sized airport were moved to two others in Deir Ezour and the Syrian Badia.
Insurgents of the Islamic State were seen roaming through Tabqa town carrying severed heads they had claimed were of Syrian government troops killed during days of fierce clashes with the army at the airport.
Meanwhile, the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said that armed groups had targeted an electricity power plant in Mhardeh in Hama's northern countryside today, killing one of the guards and causing material damage.
The plant's director Ali Haifa told SANA that armed groups targeted the facility with shells, mortars, and machine guns in an attempt to seize control of it.
In the meantime, the Observatory accused the regime of shelling the Halfaya area in Hamah, central Syria, with poisonous gases. It said that Syrian jetfighters shelled the area with barrel bombs containing fatal gases.
