1 killed in clashes between Morsi supporters, police in Egypt

One teenager was shot dead Wednesday in clashes between the supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi and police in Egypt's Beni Sweif province, the state- run Ahram newspaper reported on its website. The police fired tear gas to disperse the protesters who gathered outside a university in Beni Sweif province, 120 km south of the capital Cairo, provoking clashes in which a 14-year-old student was shot dead, the report said. Police arrested 12 protesters who were attempting to hinder the train running from Beni Sweif province to Cairo. In Cairo, about one thousand Morsi's supporters rallied outside Azhar University, carrying boards that read "down with military rule." According to the report, five students were wounded outside Azhar University. In Giza security headquarters, security forces were deployed to prevent the students of Cairo University from entering the government building. The security forces across the country were expanding their presence early Wednesday, as pro-Morsi National Alliance for Supporting Legitimacy called on Tuesday for staging two-week protests as of Wednesday.
